G20 Summits' Affirmations of Human Rights

Julia Tops, G20 Research Group, November 21, 2020

For the purpose of direction setting, human rights — considered to be basic rights and freedoms accorded to each individual globally — is coded to include dimensions such as women's rights and individual liberty but excludes intellectual property rights. This performance dimension of principled and normative decision making is measured by affirmations of principles, which are statements of fact, causation and rectitude.

Human rights have been coded into three categories: blue rights (civil and political), red rights (economic and social) and green rights (ecological)
